Quick answer

Our free online English level test checks your grammar and listening and gives your CEFR level from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficient) instantly, with explanations for every answer and a free downloadable certificate. Each test takes about 15 minutes.

Why take an English level test?

Knowing your exact level saves you time and money. Instead of joining a course that is too easy or too difficult, you can start at the right point and track your progress. Our free English level test uses the CEFR scale (A1–C2) — the same scale used by Cambridge, IELTS and employers worldwide — so your result means something outside our classroom too.

Grammar test or listening test — which should I take?

Take both if you can. Grammar shows how accurately you build sentences; listening shows how well you understand real, spoken English. Many learners in Delhi are stronger in grammar than in listening and speaking — that gap is exactly what our spoken English course is designed to close.

What happens after the test?

You get your CEFR level, a score for every level, answer explanations and a free certificate. You also get a course recommendation: complete beginners usually start with the Basic English Speaking Course, B1 learners move to the Intermediate course, and B2+ learners often choose the Advanced course or IELTS coaching. Want a speaking assessment too? Book a free consultation at our Batla House or Shaheen Bagh centre, or online.

Is an online test as accurate as a classroom test?

An online test is a quick, reliable indication of your grammar and listening level. It cannot test speaking and writing — so in your free consultation, our trainers also check your spoken English before recommending a batch. See course fees and batch timings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the English level test really free?

Yes. Both the grammar and the listening test are 100% free, including your result, answer explanations and certificate.

How long does the test take?

Each test takes about 15 minutes. There is no time limit, so you can take your time.

What is the CEFR scale?

The Common European Framework of Reference describes language ability in six levels: A1 and A2 (basic user), B1 and B2 (independent user), and C1 and C2 (proficient user). It is used by Cambridge, IELTS, universities and employers worldwide.

What IELTS band matches my CEFR level?

Roughly: B1 ≈ IELTS 4.0–5.0, B2 ≈ 5.5–6.5, C1 ≈ 7.0–8.0 and C2 ≈ 8.5–9.0. For an accurate IELTS prediction, book a free mock test assessment with our IELTS trainers.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. After the test you can download a personalised certificate with your name, CEFR level, score and date.

Can I take the test again?

Yes, as often as you like. Many students retake the tests every few weeks to measure their progress.

Does the test check speaking?

No — an online test checks grammar and listening. In your free consultation, our trainers assess your speaking before recommending the right batch.
